Lok Adalats are well-known for helping people settle their legal disputes in a peaceful, affordable, and quick way. They deal with many types of cases such as civil issues, small criminal matters, family disputes, land and property problems, employment-related issues, bank loan recovery cases, revenue matters, forest-related disputes, motor accident compensation claims, and traffic challans or e-challans.
Lok Adalat is a system of alternative dispute resolution in India, aimed at resolving cases amicably and efficiently outside the formal judicial system. It translates to “People’s Court” and is governed under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. Lok Adalats play a significant role in reducing the burden on courts while ensuring accessible and affordable justice for citizens.
