YouTuber Samay Raina appeared before the National Commission for Women and submitted a written apology for allegedly disrespectful comments about women during his show ‘India’s Got Latent’. The NCW had earlier issued him a notice.

YouTuber Samay Raina appeared before the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Tuesday, where he submitted a written apology for comments considered disrespectful to women during his show “India’s Got Latent.”
Raina was also one of five social media influencers who faced the Supreme Court regarding allegations of mocking individuals with disabilities.
The NCW summoned him due to objectionable content in his online program. During the proceedings with NCW Chairperson Vijay Rahatkar, Raina expressed remorse for his remarks and assured the Commission that he would refrain from making similar statements in the future.
He also committed to creating content that respects women’s dignity and raises awareness about their rights, as noted in the NCW’s statement.
Rahatkar emphasized that public figures must show sensitivity and respect towards women, particularly on public platforms, urging him to actively promote gender equality through his work.
Raina accepted the Commission’s advice and pledged to produce content that honors women and contributes positively to public discourse. His appearance before the panel followed multiple summonses since February.
Initially, Raina and others missed the hearing on February 17, citing travel and security issues. The NCW rescheduled the hearing to accommodate their return to India.
The controversy began when clips from “India’s Got Latent” went viral earlier this year, sparking outrage over comments perceived as trivializing rape and objectifying women. This led the Maharashtra Cyber Cell to file an FIR, and the NCW took suo motu cognizance of the situation.
The YouTube series was removed in February, and Raina publicly apologized, expressing regret for any unintended harm caused.
In the weeks after the incident, Raina announced a temporary break before launching an international comedy tour, which he cited as the reason for his absence from the commission.
