MUMBAI: YouTuber Samay Raina, who is currently outside the country, has requested Maharashtra Cyber Cell to allow him to record his statement through video conferencing. However, the Cyber Cell denied his request, stating that he must appear in person to give his statement.
As per the Maharashtra Cyber Cell, Samay has been called to appear in person on February 18 to record his statement in connection with the controversy surrounding his show India’s Got Latent.
The controversy surrounding Samay’s show started when YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia made certain comments on the show, which sparked a lot of public discussions.
During this time, Samay Raina has received strong support from various celebrities, including rapper Badshah.
At a recent concert in Vadodara, Gujarat, at Parul University, Badshah publicly expressed his support for Samay. He shouted “Free Samay Raina” at the end of his performance, and the audience reacted with great enthusiasm. A video of this moment went viral on social media, and one user shared the video with the caption,
“Ain’t no way Badshah said ‘Free Samay Raina’ at the end of the concert! LFG!!!”
Badshah, who has also been featured on India’s Got Latent, previously worked with Samay Raina on the music video for the track “Baawe,” alongside rapper Raftaar. Raftaar, who had also appeared on an episode of the show, shared his thoughts on social media, reflecting on how some people take pleasure in the failure of successful individuals.
While Raftaar did not directly mention Samay Raina or Ranveer Allahbadia in his post, the timing and context of his message made it clear that he was responding to the ongoing controversy.
Raftaar’s post included the words,
“People often enjoy seeing successful individuals fail,”
and he went on to question whether this attitude comes from a genuine desire for justice or stems from personal insecurities.
