SIT successfully replays murder sequence with accused, confirming weapon use and destruction of victim’s phone. SP says machete still missing as SDRF searches for it.

Shillong: Today, on June 17, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the brutal murder of Raja Raghuvanshi recently carried out a detailed crime scene recreation to better understand the events that led to his death.
According to SP East Khasi Hills, Vivek Syiem, the reconstruction of the crime scene has helped investigators gain strong clarity about the murder sequence and roles played by each of the accused.
“The reconstruction was very successful. We have got a very clear picture now,”
said SP Vivek Syiem, who is leading the investigation.
The SIT reportedly visited multiple key locations connected to the murder. The team started from the parking lot where the accused had initially left their two-wheelers.
From there, the SIT moved to a nearby viewpoint which is suspected to be the actual crime spot.
At each location, the accused were made to demonstrate and replay their actions, which helped the officers establish the exact sequence of events leading to the fatal incident.
SP Syiem added,
“The SIT today visited several places to re-play how the accused did it. We started from the parking lot where they had kept their two-wheelers…We went to the viewpoint, and ascertained who was standing where just before the murder,”
The investigation has revealed that Raja was attacked with machetes in a series of coordinated strikes.
“There were three blows – first by Vishal, second by Anand and the last blow by Akash,”
SP Syiem said, confirming the individual involvement of each accused in the fatal assault.
However, not all weapons used in the murder have been found yet. The SIT confirmed that one more machete is still missing and that efforts are underway to recover it.

SP Syiem informed,
“We have ascertained that one more machete still needs to be recovered. The accused replayed how they threw the machete. SDRF are trying to recover the second weapon,”
The investigation also shed light on what happened to Raja Raghuvanshi’s mobile phone, which was reportedly destroyed to eliminate evidence.
“We have ascertained what happened to Raja’s mobile phone. It was damaged by Sonam and then by Vishal. This whole thing was played out, and also their exit from here…”
said SP Syiem.
The crime scene recreation has proven to be a key step in the ongoing investigation. It has not only helped identify the role of each accused but has also strengthened the SIT’s understanding of how the murder was planned and executed.
The police believe such a detailed re-enactment will help them frame a strong case against the suspects and recover all remaining evidence.
