Gandhinagar, Gujarat: A 21-year-old law student from Punjab was found dead in his hostel room at Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) in Gandhinagar. The police believe it to be a case of suicide, though the exact cause is still being investigated.

The student was in his third year of law studies at GNLU. The incident was discovered when his roommate returned to the hostel around midnight.
After knocking on the door multiple times and getting no response, he became worried. He then called the hostel warden and other students for help. Together, they broke open the door and found the student unresponsive. The police were immediately informed.
Gandhinagar Superintendent of Police (SP) Ravi Teja Vasamsetty confirmed the unfortunate incident.
Authorities are currently investigating the matter to find out what led to this incident. No suicide note was found at the scene.

Sector 21 Police Inspector Virendra Kher stated,
“No suicide note has been found, and the cause of death is being investigated.”
He added that the police are talking to the student’s friends and other people on the campus to gather more information.
The student’s body has been sent to Ahmedabad for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

This is not the first tragic incident at Gujarat National Law University.
- In 2009, a third-year GNLU student attempted suicide after being caught submitting forged documents to secure admission under the Army quota.
- In October 2024, a first-year law student from GNLU died after falling from a hotel building in Bhopal. He was in the city for a sports event at the National Law Institute University (NLIU).
