Forensic analysis of mobile and blood samples confirms the role of Monojit Mishra as the rapist and two others as facilitators. CCTV footage and witness statements further strengthen the case.
Kolkata: In a shocking development in the Kolkata Law College rape case, two major forensic reports have confirmed the direct involvement of the three main accused individuals. One of them, Monojit Mishra, has been identified as the main accused who committed the rape, while the other two, Jaib Ahmed and Pramit Mukhopadhyay, have been found to have helped him carry out the crime.
According to Kolkata Police sources, the first forensic report is based on the examination of the mobile phone belonging to Monojit Mishra.
The report confirms his involvement not just in this recent incident involving the law college student, but also points towards his past involvement in similar acts of sexual exploitation.
A senior city police officer revealed,
“The forensic analysis of the mobile phone of Mishra has provided us with definite clues about not only the rape of the law college student last month, but also regarding charges of similar sexual exploitation committed by him in the past.”
However, he declined to provide any further information at this stage of the investigation.
The second forensic report relates to the blood samples collected from the guard room inside the law college where the incident reportedly took place.
These samples have been found to support the involvement of Mishra as well as the two other accused — Jaib Ahmed and Pramit Mukhopadhyay.
A senior police officer stated,
“This report has given us substantial clues about the involvement of Mishra and two other accused, namely Jaib Ahmed and Pramit Mukhopadhyay, in the crime. In simple terms, the contents of these two forensic reports have enough materials to make the case watertight against the prime accused.”
While Mishra has been identified as the primary perpetrator who committed the act of rape, Ahmed and Mukhopadhyay have been described as facilitators who helped him execute the crime. The investigators have already recorded the statements of 60 witnesses in the matter.
These witness testimonies, combined with the CCTV footage collected from various locations within the law college premises, have helped the police strengthen their case further.

The CCTV footage reportedly shows the three accused dragging the victim to the guard room, where the incident of rape allegedly occurred. To strengthen the evidence further, the police also conducted a gait pattern analysis of the accused earlier this week.
This scientific method is used to compare the walking style and body movements of the accused with those seen in the CCTV footage to establish a more accurate identification.
