NEW DELHI: In a powerful address during the ‘National Conference of the District Judiciary’ held on Sunday(1st September), Supreme Court Judge Justice Surya Kant emphasized the relentless and ongoing nature of the pursuit of justice in India. He emphasized that achieving justice is not a destination but a continuous journey that demands unwavering dedication and a collective effort from all stakeholders within the judiciary.
Justice Kant articulated the Supreme Court’s steadfast mission since its inception, stating that it has been committed to ensuring that justice is delivered to even the most remote and marginalized sections of society.
He remarked-
“Pursuit of justice is a continuous journey, one that requires collective dedication and untiring commitment.”
This statement reflects the deep-rooted commitment of the judiciary to maintain and enhance the delivery of justice across the nation.
Reflecting on the conference’s significance, Justice Kant expressed confidence in the outcomes of the deliberations.
He said-
“As we conclude, I am confident that the discussions and ideas shared will enhance our judicial system and motivate us to work even harder to ensure that justice reaches everyone, including the most marginalized.”
His remarks highlight the importance of such gatherings in fostering collaboration and innovation within the judicial framework.
Justice Surya Kant also pointed out that several nationwide conferences have been organized as part of the celebrations marking the 75th year of the Supreme Court’s establishment. These events have been instrumental in uniting judicial officers from across the country, providing them with opportunities to learn from one another and to address critical issues facing the judiciary.
He elaborated on the value of these gatherings, saying-
“These gatherings provide judicial officers with a platform to learn and implement best practices while also serving as a critical forum to address pressing issues affecting our judicial system at the grassroots level.”
This quote emphasizes the dual purpose of these conferences: to disseminate knowledge and to tackle the complex challenges that impede the smooth delivery of justice.
Moreover, Justice Kant highlighted the importance of these deliberations in ensuring that the justice system operates effectively while prioritizing the needs of all stakeholders involved.
He stated-
“These crucial discussions enable us to explore ways to enhance the seamless delivery of justice while safeguarding the best interests of all stakeholders.”
This insight underscores the judiciary’s commitment to balancing efficiency with fairness in its operations.
The conference, according to Justice Kant, offers a unique opportunity for learning and growth within the judiciary. He concluded his address by recognizing the value of diverse perspectives, saying-
“The greatest reward of conferences is the chance to learn from every opinion and suggestion shared.”
This acknowledgment of the collective wisdom within the judiciary reinforces the collaborative spirit essential for the continuous improvement of the justice system.
