In Sambhal, recent stone pelting and vandalism sparked condemnation from Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi, who urged the Muslim community to adhere to Islam’s peaceful teachings. Amid allegations of political orchestration behind the violence, authorities confirmed control over the situation and pledged action against offenders. A court-ordered survey of the Jama Masjid continues amid ongoing legal disputes.

Bareilly: The recent incident of stone pelting and vandalism in Sambhal has drawn widespread criticism and appeals for peace. Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi, National President of All India Muslim Jamaat, condemned the violence and urged the Muslim community to uphold Islam’s teachings of peace and tranquillity.

“Stone pelting and vandalism is not appropriate. I appeal to the Muslims of Sambhal to maintain Islam’s teachings of peace and tranquillity. As far as the court proceedings are concerned, the Jama Masjid is ours. Its towers, walls, and domes hold proof that it is a Tarikhi Masjid. We will fight this through law and strong evidence, and the success will be ours,”

he said, addressing the incident.

Reacting to the situation, Acharya Pramod Krishnam alleged that Samajwadi Party (SP) leaders orchestrated the violence following their defeat in the Uttar Pradesh by-polls.

“I appeal to the Yogi Adityanath government and UP police to take action against those trying to incite violence here,”

he added.

Meanwhile, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut commented on the broader implications of such incidents.

“It is no more hidden that not only Sambhal but there are a lot of places in our country where Hindus are not able to enter. In such areas, people are trying to implement Sharia laws and refugees are being given fake identities. We can see the importance of our mantra ‘Ek hain to safe hain’ and ‘Batenge to katenge.’ We have to stay united in our country,”

she remarked.

Sambhal DM Rajender Pensiyia confirmed that the survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid was successfully completed despite the chaos.

“The survey team has been safely taken out. The situation is being brought under control. Strict action will be taken against mischievous elements. No one will be spared,”

he said.

Superintendent of Police Krishan Kumar stated that the law and order situation has been restored. However, several vehicles were set on fire, and properties near the Jama Masjid sustained damages during the violence.

The survey was conducted by an Advocate Commissioner in compliance with the Court’s November 19 order. Senior advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain explained that the survey examined the mosque’s features through videography and photography. He confirmed that the report would be submitted to the court by November 29.

The legal process stems from a petition claiming that the Shahi Jama Masjid was originally a temple. A similar survey was conducted earlier with local police and mosque management committee members supervising the process.

As investigations into the incident continue, authorities have vowed to take stringent action against those responsible for the violence.
