Jammu and Kashmir MP Engineer Rashid requested interim bail from a Delhi court to attend Parliament while facing terror-funding charges. Appearing virtually from Tihar Jail, he emphasized his obligation to his constituents. The court has asked the National Investigation Agency to respond by November 27, maintaining jurisdiction over the case as Rashid’s appeals continue.

New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir MP Engineer Rashid on Monday (Nov 25th) sought interim bail from a Delhi court to attend the ongoing Parliament session in a terror-funding case.
During a virtual appearance from Tihar Jail, Rashid appealed to Principal District and Sessions Judge Vimal Kumar Yadav, stating,
“I have been elected by my people. I was not allowed to attend the last session. With folded hands, I request you that I may be granted interim bail.”
The court directed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to file its response by November 27, the next date of the hearing. Both Rashid’s counsel and the NIA requested that the case remain with the current court rather than being transferred.
The court will further deliberate on the matter after reviewing the NIA’s response. Rashid remains in custody on charges related to terror funding, but he insists his presence in Parliament is a democratic duty owed to his constituents.
The outcome of this appeal is expected to balance Rashid’s legislative responsibilities with the ongoing legal proceedings against him.
