Hyderabad Police registered a case against a Facebook account for allegedly posting false and inflammatory content against ex-CJI NV Ramana. The complaint stated the post was provocative, defamatory, and capable of disturbing public peace.

The Hyderabad Police have filed a case against a social media account and its author for allegedly posting defamatory and provocative content against former Chief Justice of India (CJI) N.V. Ramana. The case was registered on Friday after a formal complaint was lodged by Justice Ramana’s personal secretary.
According to the complaint, the personal assistant to the retired judge said he found the objectionable post while browsing Facebook on September 30.
The complaint stated:
“The said post, in Telugu, attributed false content to the retired judge. It contained highly objectionable, inflammatory, and provocative material. It allegedly promoted hatred, hostility, and violence among groups and was likely to disturb public peace and tranquillity.”
The complaint further added that the language used in the post was intentionally designed to create social unrest.

It said:
“The language and tenor of the post were deliberately designed to spread enmity between communities and to incite violence. The post falsely attributed certain utterances to retired Justice Ramana, which was allegedly done intentionally to defame him and cause public unrest through such false content.”
Raising concerns about the possible impact of such content on society, the complaint also highlighted:
“Such content, if allowed to circulate unchecked, is capable of causing a serious breach of law and order, outraging religious feelings, and leading to disharmony among sections of society.”
The complainant also urged the police to take quick action to stop the spread of the offensive post across social media platforms. He requested that authorities take necessary steps to ensure the content is blocked and removed.
The complaint read:
“Such content, if allowed to circulate unchecked, is capable of causing a serious breach of law and order, outraging religious feelings, and leading to disharmony among sections of society.”
Following the complaint, the Hyderabad Cyber Crime police registered a case and confirmed that an investigation is now underway to trace the origin of the post and the individuals responsible for sharing and spreading it.
