Advocate Suicide: Govt Counsel Vinayak Chandel Found Dead Inside Maharashtra's Beed Court Premises

MUMBAI: A 48-year-old government counsel died by suicide inside the court premises in Maharashtra’s Beed district. The tragic event occurred at the Wadwani court, where the deceased, identified as Vinayak Chandel, was serving as a government counsel.

According to police officials, Chandel allegedly hanged himself with a rope inside the court building. The incident came to light when court staff arrived at the premises around 10:45 am and discovered his body. Authorities immediately rushed to the scene, and the area was cordoned off for investigation.

Vinayak Chandel had been appointed as a government counsel in January 2025 at the Wadwani court. His sudden demise within months of his posting has raised concerns among colleagues and members of the legal fraternity.

Police officials have confirmed the recovery of a suicide note from the site. However, its contents have not been disclosed yet. Investigators stated that the details will be shared after proper verification, and the note may provide clarity on the circumstances that led to Chandel’s drastic step.
