Fake Website Misuses Name and Photo of Former AG: Projects KK Venugopal as ‘Personal Injury Attorney’ and CEO of Firm

NEW DELHI: A fraudulent website is circulating online, misusing the name and photograph of former Attorney General for India KK Venugopal to offer fake legal services.

The website, operating under the name “Lawyer Attorney” with the domain kkvenugopal.com, falsely projects Venugopal as a “personal injury attorney” and even claims that he is the CEO of the firm.

However, most of the links on the website are non-functional, raising serious suspicion about its legitimacy. Notably, the site does not provide any telephone number for contact but lists a UK address:

10, Firs Avenue, Muswell Hill, London, UK
E-mail: info@kkvenugopal.com

The site also includes a chat feature, but before initiating a conversation, users are prompted to submit personal details such as their name, email ID, and phone number, a common tactic used in online scams.

KK Venugopal

KK Venugopal is a renowned Indian constitutional lawyer and Senior Advocate in the Supreme Court of India. He served as the Attorney General of India from July 2017 to September 2022. Enrolled as an advocate in 1954 and designated Senior Advocate in 1972, he has held key positions including Additional Solicitor General (1979–80), President of the Supreme Court Bar Association, and President of SAARCLAW and Union Internationale des Avocats.

Venugopal has appeared in several landmark cases, such as the Karunanidhi dismissal case, the NJAC case, the Babri Masjid demolition case, and as Amicus Curiae in the 2G spectrum case. A strong advocate of judicial reforms, he has proposed regional Courts of Appeal to ease the Supreme Court’s burden.

He has also contributed internationally by helping Nepal and Bhutan draft their Constitutions. A decorated jurist, he received the Padma Bhushan (2002) and Padma Vibhushan (2015), along with global recognitions for his contributions to law and human rights.
