The petition alleges that Atishi and her election agents engaged in corrupt activities during the election period

New Delhi, March 24: The Delhi High Court has sent a notice to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi regarding a petition challenging her election victory from the Kalkaji Assembly constituency.
The notice was issued on Wednesday by Justice Jyoti Singh based on an election petition filed by Kamaljit Singh Duggal and Ayush Rana, both voters from Kalkaji. The petition raises concerns about alleged irregularities and corrupt practices during the election.
The High Court has also instructed the Election Commission of India, the Returning Officer, and the Delhi Police to keep all election-related records safe. These records pertain to the Assembly elections that were held in February this year.
The matter will now be heard on July 30.
The petition alleges that Atishi and her election agents engaged in corrupt activities during the election period. The most serious claim states that just a day before the election, Atishi’s close associates were caught with Rs 5 lakh in cash in the Kalkaji constituency.
The petition argues that this money was meant “to buy votes or bribe the voters in her favour.”
Additionally, the petition accuses AAP party workers of publishing false statements about Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Ramesh Bidhuri. The petition claims that these statements were aimed at misleading voters and damaging the BJP candidate’s reputation.
Another key allegation is that the then Chief Minister misused government resources for electoral benefits. The petition states that public funds and official machinery were allegedly used to boost Atishi’s campaign and secure her victory.
