The Chief Justice of India, Justice Surya Kant, visited the holy hill shrine of Tirumala Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala on Sunday morning and offered prayers to Lord Venkateswara Swamy. This was his first visit to the temple after taking oath as the Chief Justice of India.

Justice Surya Kant reached the temple early in the morning and was welcomed at the ‘Mahadwaram’ (main entrance) with full traditional honours. Senior officials of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams received him warmly.

Among those present were TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu, Executive Officer M. Ravi Chandra, Additional Executive Officer C.H. Venkayya Chowdary, District Superintendent of Police L. Subbarayudu, and TTD Chief Vigilance and Security Officer Murali Krishna.

Temple priests received the CJI amid Vedic chants and traditional temple music. Following temple customs, he proceeded for darshan of Lord Venkateswara Swamy. After offering prayers to the presiding deity, the priests presented him with the sacred “Sesha Vastram” as a mark of respect and honour.

Speaking about the visit, TTD Chief Vigilance and Security Officer (CVSO) Murali Krishna said,

“Kant offered prayers to Lord Venkateswara Swamy during his maiden visit to the Tirumala temple after assuming office as the CJI,”.

After the darshan, the Chief Justice was taken to the Ranganayakula Mandapam inside the temple premises, where Vedic scholars blessed him as per tradition.

He was presented with silk clothes and later received Theertha Prasadam (holy water) and the Lord’s prasadam from temple authorities. The TTD officials also presented him with a portrait of Lord Venkateswara Swamy as a token of respect.

Justice Surya Kant had arrived in Tirumala late on Saturday night and participated in all rituals in accordance with temple traditions and customs. His visit was conducted smoothly under tight security arrangements coordinated by temple authorities and local police officials.

Later, the Chief Justice also visited and offered prayers at the Sri Varahaswamy Temple in Tirumala, which holds religious importance for devotees visiting the hill shrine.
