New Delhi: The Chief Justice of India, Justice Surya Kant, and Union Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju will attend the opening ceremony of the All India Judges Badminton Championship, which will begin on Saturday.

This special sporting event brings together members of the Indian judiciary for a friendly competition aimed at encouraging fitness, bonding, and a healthy lifestyle among judges.

The two-day championship will take place at the Thyagraj Sports Complex in New Delhi on November 29 and 30.

According to the official statement, the event is expected to see participation from judges across various courts, making it one of the biggest sporting gatherings within the judicial community.

Apart from the Chief Justice of India and Kiren Rijiju, several other senior legal personalities will also be present.

These include Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, Supreme Court Judge Justice Vikram Nath, and Chief Justices from different High Courts across the country. Their presence highlights the importance of the event and reflects the judiciary’s support for activities beyond the courtroom.

The closing ceremony and prize distribution will be held on Sunday and will be presided over by former Chief Justice of India B R Gavai along with Justice Vikram Nath. Winners and participants will be honoured for their performance and sportsmanship during the championship.

The All India Judges Badminton Championship is being organised by Abantika Deka, a former international badminton player, who has taken the initiative to promote sports among members of the legal fraternity.

The event not only focuses on competition but also aims to create awareness about the importance of maintaining physical well-being in a demanding profession like law.

This championship is seen as a positive step towards strengthening unity and camaraderie within the judicial system, while also sending a message that even those involved in serious legal responsibilities should prioritise fitness and recreation.
