NEW DELHI: In an effort to illuminate the intricacies and foster engaging dialogue around 3 newly introduced criminal statutes, the Ministry of Law and Justice has announced the convening of a significant conference. This gathering, dubbed “India’s Progressive Path in the Administration of Criminal Justice System,” is slated to take place at the Ambedkar International Centre, located in Janpath, New Delhi.

The esteemed event is scheduled for April 20, 2024, and will be presided over by the Chief Justice of India, Dr. Justice D.Y. Chandrachud. The conference boasts an illustrious roster of participants, including the Minister of State for the Ministry of Law and Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal, the Attorney General of India, R. Venkataramani, the Solicitor General of India, Tushar Mehta, the Home Secretary of India, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, among other notable figures.

Hailing the enactment of the new criminal justice laws as a watershed moment for society, Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud on Saturday said India is set for a significant overhaul of its criminal justice system.

Speaking at a conference he said the new laws would be successful if “we as citizens adopt them”.
