MUMBAI: Kolhapur is set for the inauguration of a Circuit Bench of the Bombay High Court on August 17. This move is expected to transform access to justice for thousands of litigants in Kolhapur and neighboring districts.
The inauguration ceremony is scheduled for 3:30 pm and will be conducted by the Chief Justice of India, BR Gavai. The event will also see the presence of prominent dignitaries, including Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Bombay High Court Chief Justice Alok Aradhe, and Justice MS Karnik of the Bombay High Court, who will join as chief guests.
The function will take place opposite Chhatrapati Pramilaraje Hospital at Dasera Chowk, followed by a public programme at Merry Weather Ground, Nagala Park, where citizens can participate in the celebrations.

For decades, residents of Kolhapur and its adjoining districts have faced the challenge of traveling to Mumbai to attend court proceedings, often incurring significant costs and time.
