29-year-old law graduate Archana Tiwari, missing since August 7 after boarding the Indore-Bilaspur Narmada Express, has been traced alive. Police say they have got “important clues” and are questioning a Gwalior constable linked to her.
Bhopal: On August 19, the mystery surrounding the disappearance of 29-year-old civil judge aspirant Archana Tiwari from Madhya Pradesh has finally come to an end. Archana, a law graduate preparing for judicial services in Indore, had been missing since August 7 after boarding the Indore-Bilaspur Narmada Express.
Her sudden disappearance had worried her family and had become a state-wide issue. Now, it has been confirmed that she is alive.
Her brother Divyanshu Mishra told NDTV,
“she is alive and the police will share further information.”
This comes as a big relief for the family.
Sources also revealed that Archana has spoken to her mother and informed her about her location. A railway police team has reportedly left for that place to bring her back safely.
Superintendent of Police of Bhopal Railway Division, Rahul Kumar Lodha, also confirmed the progress of the case. He said,
“the police have received some important clues,”
but he refused to share more details at this stage.
Police investigations showed that Archana had been in touch with a police constable posted in Gwalior. He is currently being questioned to understand the circumstances of her disappearance.
The sequence of events began on August 7, when Archana boarded the Indore-Bilaspur Narmada Express. She last spoke to her mother around 10:15 PM, when the train reached Bhopal.

After that, she could not be contacted. Her bag was later found abandoned at Umaria railway station, raising serious concerns about her safety.
Her mobile phone’s last location was traced to Rani Kamlapati station in Bhopal. Investigators also found that her phone briefly connected to the internet near Itarsi, indicating that an internet call may have been made before the device went offline.
The police launched a large-scale search operation. CCTV footage from 97 railway station cameras was checked, and three separate police teams were deployed.
Sniffer dogs, divers, and drones were used to search the forest area of Midghat, a hilly stretch between Budhni and Barkheda, to rule out any possibility of foul play.
Archana’s call details and social media accounts were thoroughly checked. Investigators questioned her close friends and fellow students, with whom she was in regular contact.
Railway staff, including the train ticket checker, coach attendants, and even some co-passengers, were also interrogated to collect information.
