Following the Punjab and Haryana High Court’s direction, Chandigarh Police have registered an FIR after a 21-year-old law intern went missing from the court premises on March 17. The matter has raised serious safety concerns.

Following directives from the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the Chandigarh Police have filed an FIR regarding the disappearance of a 21-year-old law intern who went missing from the court premises on March 17.
The order to register the FIR was issued by Justice Rajesh Bhardwaj on May 22, in response to a petition submitted by Hardik Sharma’s father, Inderjeet Kumar.
Inderjeet Kumar, a professional photographer from New Chandigarh, reported his son missing after Hardik, who was completing his apprenticeship at the high court, failed to return home that afternoon.
Initially, a Daily Diary Report (DDR) was filed at the Sector 3 police station on March 18, but no substantial progress was made until the court’s intervention.
In his complaint, Inderjeet detailed a threatening call he received on the day his son disappeared. The caller, who identified himself as Sunil Kumar, claimed to be the father of a girl named Sania and accused Hardik of eloping with her.
The caller issued serious threats, stating he would “kill him and drown him in a river.”
Another individual, known as Harvinder Singh alias Harry from Sector 127, Mohali, also allegedly threatened Hardik, warning him to stay away from Sania.
Inderjeet suspects that both Sunil Kumar from Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, and Harvinder Singh are involved in detaining his son at an unknown location.
In accordance with the court’s order, the Chandigarh Police have opened a case under Section 140(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Authorities are actively following leads and working to locate Hardik while ensuring that those responsible are held accountable.
