The Bombay High Court premises in the Fort area of South Mumbai were evacuated on Thursday after an email warning of a bomb was received.

In addition to the High Court, various magistrate courts in Mumbai including those at Bandra, Andheri, and Esplanade (Killa Court) also received similar threats, prompting extensive security checks, according to police reports.

The Mumbai Police Commissioner reassured the public, stating there was no reason for alarm and confirmed that the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) had conducted comprehensive searches in all affected locations.

No explosives were discovered, and the threats are being regarded as a hoax, with investigations underway to identify the sender.

According to media an official from the Nirmal Nagar police station,

“After being informed, the police, a bomb detection squad, and other security personnel rushed to the court premises and carried out a thorough search. However, no suspicious object was found during the inspection,”

Reiterating that the entire Bombay High Court premises were cleared, he stated,

“The entire court premises were vacated by the police, and all the staffers were asked to leave the place immediately. Nobody was allowed to enter the court premises after that.”

In another similar occurrence, the Nagpur District and Sessions Court received an email on Thursday alleging the presence of “bombs” within the building.

The police initiated a thorough search operation looking for the two RDX-based explosive devices mentioned in the bomb threat email. However, no suspicious items were discovered.

Earlier in September, High Court proceedings were temporarily stayed due to a similar bomb scare.

Similarly, On September 12, the Delhi High Court also received a comparable threat email, resulting in evacuations and the suspension of hearings.
