A local advocate sought intervention from Surya Kant and the Madhya Pradesh High Court over the suspicious death of Twisha Sharma, alleging dowry harassment and requesting an independent investigation after representations made by her father, Navnidhi Sharma.

A local advocate has written to the CJI Surya Kant and the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court seeking judicial intervention and an independent investigation into the suspicious death of Twisha Sharma, a Noida resident who was allegedly subjected to dowry harassment before her death in Bhopal.
Advocate Vivek Tiwari stated in his representation that Twisha’s father, Navnidhi Sharma, had approached him through email seeking justice for his daughter.
Twisha Sharma was reportedly found hanging at her matrimonial home in the Katara Hills area of Bhopal on May 12 under circumstances that her family has described as suspicious.
Lawyer Raises Concern Over Fairness of Investigation
In the letter addressed to the constitutional authorities, advocate Vivek Tiwari described the matter as extremely serious and sensitive.
Tiwari said in the letter to the CJI and the Chief Justice of the High Court.
“The facts and circumstances narrated by him appear to be highly grave, sensitive and legally significant,”
The representation highlighted concerns regarding the fairness and impartiality of the ongoing investigation, particularly because one of the accused, Giribala Singh, is a retired additional district judge. According to the letter, Giribala Singh currently serves as chairperson of the District Consumer Forum in Bhopal.
The advocate submitted that anticipatory bail granted earlier to Giribala Singh had intensified apprehensions within the victim’s family regarding the possibility of undue influence over the investigation process. The letter further stated that Twisha’s father feared that witnesses and evidence connected to the case could potentially be influenced or tampered with.
The advocate stated,
“The father of the deceased has expressed concern regarding the possibility of influencing witnesses, tampering with evidence and destroying vital forensic material,”
Seeking urgent judicial oversight, the lawyer urged the Chief Justice of India and the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court to ensure that the matter is investigated independently and fairly. The representation also sought immediate preservation of all forensic material, digital records and electronic evidence linked to the case in order to safeguard the integrity of the investigation.
Court Proceedings and Police Action
Meanwhile, developments in the criminal case have continued before courts in Bhopal. A local court recently rejected the anticipatory bail application filed by Samarth Singh, who is currently absconding in connection with the case. At the same time, relief had earlier been granted to his mother, Giribala Singh.

The Madhya Pradesh Police has also announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for information leading to the arrest of Samarth Singh. Police authorities are continuing efforts to trace him while investigation into the circumstances surrounding Twisha Sharma’s death remains underway.
Family Alleges Dowry Death
The victim’s family has alleged that Twisha Sharma was murdered over dowry demands made by her husband and in-laws. According to the allegations, she had been facing harassment in her matrimonial home prior to her death.
The case has drawn significant public attention due to the involvement of a retired judicial officer among the accused and the allegations relating to dowry harassment and suspicious death within a short period of marriage.
On the other hand, Giribala Singh has denied all accusations levelled against her and her family. She has claimed that Twisha Sharma had been undergoing psychiatric treatment and was allegedly struggling with drug addiction.
The investigation is presently ongoing, and authorities are expected to examine medical, forensic and electronic evidence as part of the probe into the circumstances leading to Twisha Sharma’s death.
