Prayagraj: To foster a more respectful and collaborative environment within its premises, the Allahabad High Court administration has issued a directive to all court officers and officials, emphasizing the importance of courteous interactions with lawyers and their clerks. This initiative underscores the court’s commitment to maintaining a professional and congenial atmosphere, crucial for the effective functioning of the judicial system.

The directive, a reflection of the administration’s dedication to upholding the highest standards of conduct, mandates that all interactions between court personnel and counsel be handled with utmost courtesy. The emphasis is on ensuring that the behavior and demeanor of the court staff embody an appropriate level of humility. This approach is not only about maintaining decorum but also about respecting the integral role that lawyers and their clerks play in the judicial process.

Furthering this initiative, the administration has instructed all Registrars and Joint Registrars, who hold supervisory roles, to organize briefing sessions for their respective sections. The objective of these sessions is to instill proper etiquette and demeanor among all officers and officials. These training sessions are designed to guide court personnel on how to address lawyers and their clerks with the patience and composure that is befitting of their positions.

The order explicitly states,

“All concerned are directed to make sincere efforts to ensure that no such incident takes place, where learned counsel have to make a complaint regarding the bad/rude behavior of any staff.”

This statement is a clear indication of the administration’s resolve to prevent any instances of unprofessional behavior that could mar the court’s reputation and hinder its operations.

This initiative by the Allahabad High Court administration is a commendable step towards enhancing the professional environment within the legal system. By focusing on the conduct of court officials and their interactions with legal professionals, the High Court is setting a standard for other judicial bodies to follow. It is a move that not only benefits the lawyers and their clerks but also contributes to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the judicial process.
