A brief moment of alert was seen among the administrative and police officials in Agra district, Uttar Pradesh, after information was received about a possible emergency landing of a chartered aircraft carrying Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant.

According to official sources, the chartered plane carrying the CJI was on its way to Saifai in Etawah district, where Justice Surya Kant was scheduled to attend the 33rd Saraswat ceremony of the Etawah Hindi Seva Nidhi, an institution established by Justice Prem Shankar Gupta.

The event was organised to promote Hindi language and literature.

The aircraft was originally scheduled to land at Saifai airport at around 11:30 am.

However, during the journey, officials in Agra received information that weather conditions towards Etawah had worsened, raising the possibility that the aircraft might be forced to make an emergency landing at Kheria Airport in Agra.

Following this alert, senior district and police officials immediately rushed to Kheria Airport.

At the time, District Magistrate Arvind Malappa Bangari, Additional District Magistrate (Protocol) Prashant Tiwari, and other administrative officers were attending the Samadhan Diwas programme in Fatehabad, but they left midway and reached the airport without delay.

Along with them, top police officials including the Commissioner of Police, Additional Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police (City), and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) also arrived at Kheria Airport to make necessary security and emergency arrangements.

Around 12 noon, the district administration received an update stating that the Meteorological Department had confirmed improvement in weather conditions at Saifai. Based on this clearance, it was informed that the chartered plane could safely land at Saifai airport.

The aircraft remained at Kheria Airport briefly during this period of uncertainty. Later, at around 1:00 pm, after final confirmation, CJI Surya Kant proceeded towards Saifai, and the officials present at Kheria Airport returned to their respective duties.

Subsequently, Chief Justice of India Surya Kant successfully reached Etawah and attended the 33rd Saraswat ceremony of the Hindi Seva Nidhi held on Saturday.

During the programme, he honoured 19 contributors to Hindi literature, referred to as “Vani Putras”, for their significant work in promoting the Hindi language.

The ceremony was organised in the courtyard of Islamia College, Etawah, and was attended by several dignitaries, scholars, and members of the legal and academic community.

The incident highlights the high level of preparedness and coordination among civil and police authorities when it comes to the movement and security of constitutional authorities like the Chief Justice of India.
