The Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF) issued a plea urging law firms to refrain from engaging in mass poaching activities following what it describes as recent “disappointing” attempts. SILF emphasizes the importance of adhering to its Code of Conduct, which requires law firms to exercise basic courtesies and considerations when recruiting partners or associates from other firms.

NEW DELHI: Today (On 4th April): The Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF) raised concern regarding the recent attempts to undermine the credibility and integrity of the judiciary in India. SILF represents the leading corporate law firms in the country.

Bhasin stated in his letter
SILF’s Code of Conduct mandates specific basic courtesies and considerations from law firms when facilitating or endorsing the recruitment of partners or associates from other law firms.
The statement emphasized the fundamental principle that no individual, regardless of their position or influence, should be considered above the law.
The society condemned this alarming and detrimental endeavor to undermine the image of the country’s judiciary, which has always stood as a symbol of unwavering commitment to the rule of law.
The Supreme Court of India consistently upheld this principle, reiterating that even the highest-ranking individuals are subject to the law.
SILF emphasized its firm belief that the legal process should be allowed to take its natural course, irrespective of the status of individuals who are currently being investigated. It firmly asserted that it is the prerogative of the courts to determine the innocence or guilt of any person.
