Sanjay Singh Produced in Uttar Pradesh Court Regarding 2008 Incident

The next hearing date has been set by the court for February 14. Singh was brought on a train this morning and taken back after the hearing. Singh is currently in judicial custody after being arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case connected to the alleged Delhi Excise policy scam.

Uttar Pradesh: On February 7, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh, currently under judicial custody, made an appearance at an MP-MLA court in Sultanpur UP for a hearing related to a case from 2008. This case was initiated against him during the protest took place in 2008. The hearing, conducted under the Special Magistrate Yogesh Yadav, where his statement was recorded in the case lodged in Singh’s counsel Madan Singh said that after recording the statement of AAP MP the court has fixed February 14 as the next date of hearing . After several remainders, Sanjay Singh was not appearing before the court.

Sanjay Singh’s presence in court who was arrest by the Enforcement Directorate over allegations connected to the Delhi Excise policy scam, implicating him in money laundering activities. The AAP leader was transported by train for the hearing and returned upon its conclusion, highlighting the seriousness with which the authorities are handling his case.

The background of the 2008 case, which brought Singh back to the courtroom, originated from a “Ghera Dalo, Dera Dalo” campaign, leading to his arrest. The charges filed against him include wrongful restraint (IPC Section 341) and using criminal force to deter a public servant from performing their duty (IPC Section 353), forcing the intensity of the protest and its aftermath.

Sanjay Singh has continued to serve in his political role, recently re-elected for a second term in the Rajya Sabha. Tight security arrangements accompanied the AAP MP’s train ride from Tihar Jail to Sultanpur. When he arrived at the train station, AAP leaders and workers raised anti-government slogans.
