The court’s decision came after Vemula Satish Kumar was arrested on April 17 from an apartment located in RR Peta, in accordance with the prescribed norms. He was subsequently produced before the court on April 18.
According to the police, Vemula Satish Kumar provided a voluntary confessional statement, in which he implicated another individual as the instigator who conspired to kill the Chief Minister by hurling a sharp-edged stone at a sensitive area. This revelation has intensified the investigation into the case, as the authorities strive to ascertain the truth behind the attack on the Chief Minister.
On April 22, Vemula Satish Kumar, the main suspect in the assault on Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, is expected to appear before the Fourth Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Vijayawada to provide a statement regarding the incident. This step follows the serving of a notice under CrPC Section 164 to Satish Kumar by the investigation officers. Section 164 deals with the recording of confessions and statements, and its invocation signifies a significant turn in the investigation.

The decision to summon Satish Kumar for a statement comes in the wake of the release of another individual, Vemula Durga Rao, who was previously considered a suspect in the case. Vemula Durga Rao, in a press statement, disclosed that he had been in police custody for four days, from April 16 to 20. He further asserted that he was released due to the lack of substantial evidence linking him to the attack.
Earlier, Vemula Satish Kumar was arrested by the police and presented before the court on April 18. During the court proceedings, the investigation officers revealed that Satish had been instigated by another individual to carry out the attack on the Chief Minister during his ‘Memanta Siddham’ bus yatra on April 13. The involvement of this alleged instigator has raised suspicions and questions regarding the true motives behind Satish’s actions.
In the witness statements submitted to the court, it was explicitly mentioned that Vemula Durga Rao had incited Satish and had even promised to provide a significant sum of money if he caused harm to Jagan. However, with Durga Rao’s subsequent release, doubts have arisen regarding the actual instigator behind Satish’s actions.
