NEW DELHI: Today (28th March): The Delhi Rouse Avenue Court asked ED to present Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal challenging his arrest in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy scandal today at 2PM.
Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi’s Chief Minister, was placed in six-day Enforcement Directorate custody until March 28 by a local court following his arrest by the ED related to the excise policy affair.
The central agency, which detained Kejriwal on Thursday, presented him before the Delhi court on Friday, terming him as the “central figure and primary conspirator” in the purported liquor scandal and requesting a 10-day custody.
Special Judge Kaveri Baweja at the Rouse Avenue court granted a six-day custody, scheduling Kejriwal’s appearance before the court on March 28, at 2 pm. During the court session, the ED asserted that the AAP benefited from the illicit proceeds linked to the alleged liquor scam. It alleged Kejriwal’s direct involvement in shaping the Delhi excise policy 2021-22, which was annulled last year, and accused him of receiving kickbacks from the “South group” for devising and executing the policy.

Additional Solicitor General (ASG) SV Raju, representing the ED, informed the court of Kejriwal’s purported demand for Rs 100 crore from the “South group” for participating in the Punjab elections. He emphasized that the AAP, being an entity, holds collective responsibility, holding every individual involved in the organization accountable.
Furthermore, the ED accused Kejriwal of channeling “proceeds of crime” amounting to Rs 45 crore during the Goa Assembly polls through four ‘hawala’ routes, facilitated by the AAP, of which Kejriwal serves as the convener and ultimate decision-maker. The agency alleged the generation of kickbacks by members of the “South Group,” including arrested Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader K Kavitha and others.
