SHILLONG: On Monday(22nd April), Susuki Pariat, the President of the Bhartiya Janata Party’s Mahila Morcha, has made a courageous move by contacting the Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya. This action comes after the distressing events of April 16 in South West Garo Hills, where two young girls endured rape and two boys faced assault. Representing the BJP’s women’s wing, Pariat sent a letter to the Chief Justice.
The letter highlighted the nature of the incident and the urgent need for justice.
Pariat’s words were clear and emphatic as she stated-
“We respectfully implore Your Honour to initiate suo moto action against the wrongdoers and request a report from our Police Department. Your Honour, we maintain unwavering trust in you and the judiciary, and we believe that your intervention will lead to the swift resolution of this case.”

Furthermore, the BJP Mahila Morcha has not only called for legal action but has also publicly denounced the atrocious deeds, stressing the government’s responsibility to ensure the perpetrators face consequences. Their advocacy doesn’t end with seeking justice; it encompasses the well-being of the victims. The group has urged the government to offer interim compensation to the victims, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to addressing the repercussions of such offenses.
This incident has highlighted the urgency for more robust measures to safeguard minors and promptly prosecute offenders. The proactive approach adopted by the BJP Mahila Morcha, led by Susuki Pariat, emphasizes the important role of political and social groups in championing justice and aiding victims.
