New Delhi: A day after the AAP was ousted from power in Delhi, party chief Arvind Kejriwal held a crucial meeting with 22 newly elected MLAs at his Ferozshah Road residence on Sunday. During the meeting, he urged them to work for the people despite the party’s electoral setback.

Following the meeting, outgoing Chief Minister Atishi, who was among the AAP leaders who managed to withstand the BJP wave, addressed reporters. She assured that the AAP will act as a constructive opposition, ensuring that the BJP fulfills its promises made during the campaign.

“The AAP will play the role of a constructive opposition and ensure that the BJP pays Rs 2,500 per month to women by March 8 as was promised by it, provides 300 units of free electricity and continues other facilities for the people,”

Atishi stated.

She further emphasized that AAP MLAs will closely monitor the ruling BJP government to ensure that free services and public welfare schemes introduced by AAP over the past 10 years remain intact.

Atishi also confirmed that the leader of opposition in the Delhi Assembly will be nominated in an upcoming AAP legislative party meeting.

The BJP’s landslide victory, securing 48 out of 70 seats, ended AAP’s 10-year rule and marked the saffron party’s return to power in Delhi after over 26 years. Despite the loss, AAP has vowed to stay committed to the people and hold the BJP accountable for its promises.
