Man Sentenced 10-Year Jail Term for 2015 Rape of Minor Girl in Sonbhadra, UP

UP: In Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh, a Special POCSO court delivered a verdict Yesterday(16 Feb 2024), sentencing an individual to 10 years of imprisonment for an abduction and rape incident that occurred nine years ago.

The convict, identified as Ramsevak Kol, was also ordered to pay a fine of Rs 30,000 for his heinous crime. This ruling stems from an incident in 2015, during which Kol lured a minor girl and subjected her to sexual assault.

Ramsevak Kol was found guilty of kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old girl in the Chopan police station area in 2015, as stated by government counsel Dinesh Kumar Agrahari.

Additional District Judge (POCSO) Amit Veer Singh held Ramsevak Kol guilty and sentenced him to 10 years of imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000, Agrahari said.

According to Agrahari, the father of the minor girl lodged a police complaint on January 8, 2016, detailing the events of January 27, 2015. He reported that Kol had enticed and abducted his daughter at around 3 pm on that day.

Despite his efforts, the father was unable to locate his missing daughter. Subsequently, based on his complaint, the police registered a case against Kol under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
