Justice Sarasa Venkatanarayana Bhatti was born on May 6, 1962, and completed his law degree at Jagadguru Renukacharya College, Bangalore.
Justice Bhatti enrolled with the Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh in January 1987 and practiced law at the High Court of Andhra Pradesh for 26 years before his elevation to the Bench.

Career as a Judge:
- April 2013: Appointed as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh.
- June 2014: Became a permanent judge of the High Court at Hyderabad for the State of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
- January 2019: Joined the newly formed Andhra Pradesh High Court as a Judge.
- March 2019: Transferred to the High Court of Kerala as a Judge.
- 2023: Elevated as Chief Justice of the High Court of Kerala.
Elevation to the Supreme Court
On July 5, 2023, the Supreme Court Collegium recommended Justice Bhatti for elevation to the Supreme Court, citing the importance of regional representation from the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The Department of Justice confirmed his appointment on July 12, 2023, and he took oath as a Supreme Court Judge on July 14, 2023.
Justice Bhatti’s appointment aligns with the Collegium’s focus on ensuring diverse representation from the 25 High Courts across the nation in the Supreme Court.
