Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia, born on August 10, 1960, in Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, is a second-generation judge. His father, Keshav Chandra Dhulia, briefly served as a Judge of the Allahabad High Court in 1984. His grandfather, Bhairav Dutt Dhulia, was a freedom fighter who endured a three-year imprisonment for his participation in the Quit India Movement.
Justice Dhulia spent the early part of his legal career practicing at the Allahabad High Court after earning his LL.B. in 1986. He practiced there for 14 years before shifting to the Uttarakhand High Court following the creation of the state in November 2000. In the same year, he was appointed the first Chief Standing Counsel of Uttarakhand and later promoted to the position of Additional Advocate General. His accomplishments earned him the designation of Senior Advocate in 2004.

- Uttarakhand High Court (2008–2021): Justice Dhulia was elevated to the bench in 2008, serving for over a decade.
- Chief Justice, Gauhati High Court (2021–2022): On January 10, 2021, he assumed the position of Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court.
- Supreme Court of India (2022–2025): Elevated to the Supreme Court on May 9, 2022, Justice Dhulia is set to serve a tenure of three years and three months, and will retire on August 9, 2025.
