Former Calcutta High Court Chief Justice T. S. Sivagnanam, appointed as one of 19 retired judges serving as single-member Appellate Tribunals for Special Intensive Revision in West Bengal, resigned from his tribunal position on Thursday citing personal reasons.
The Chhattisgarh High Court addressed judicial recusal and professional ethics as a judge stepped aside after his niece appeared as counsel, stating that the Chief Justice’s new bench-hunting circular “appears to be an interference of the Court functioning.”

The President of India appointed Hon’ble Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo, a judge of the Orissa High Court, as the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, effective upon taking charge, following a recommendation from the Supreme Court Collegium.
