The Uttarakhand High Court permitted to continue the panchayat elections after going through the reservation roster. It lifted the earlier stay order of June 23, bringing major relief to the state government.

The Uttarakhand High Court, giving relief to the Uttarakhand government, allowed the panchayat election process to continue.

The court lifted its earlier stay order issued on June 23.

During the proceedings, the division bench, comprising Chief Justice G. Narendra and Justice Alok Mehra, reviewed the reservation roster and other documents submitted by the government, agreeing to move forward with the panchayat elections.

It is important to note that after the announcement of the panchayat elections on June 21, the High Court had initially dealt a major blow by staying the elections on June 23 and requesting clarifications from the government on several issues, including reservations.

However, a crucial hearing took place on Friday regarding the eagerly anticipated three-tier panchayat elections in Uttarakhand. The court, while addressing the petitions, granted interim relief to the state government, permitting the elections to proceed.

During the hearing, advocates representing the state informed the court that all necessary preparations for the panchayat elections had been made and that the legal protocols had been followed. Meanwhile, the petitioners raised various technical and constitutional concerns.

After considering the arguments from both sides, the court chose not to impose a stay on the elections and clarified that the election process could continue.

This ruling has provided major relief to the government and cleared the way for the State Election Commission to officially announce the election schedule.
