Karisma Kapoor informed the Delhi High Court that her daughter’s school fees have remained unpaid for two months during the ongoing Sunjay Kapur estate battle. The court advised all parties to avoid melodrama and concentrate on resolving the dispute calmly and responsibly.

The Delhi High Court stated on Friday that it wishes to avoid melodramatic proceedings in the case involving Karisma Kapoor’s children and their stepmother, Priya Sachdev Kapur, concerning their late father’s estate.
Justice Jyoti Singh remarked ,
“I don’t want this hearing to be melodramatic,”
This comment came after Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, representing the children, claimed that their daughter, who is studying at a university in the US, has not had her tuition fees paid for two months.
Jethmalani noted that according to a matrimonial decree, Sunjay Kapur was responsible for covering their children’s educational expenses.
He explained,
“The children’s estate is with Defendant No.1 [Priya Kapur]. So, it’s up to her. Two months’ fee of the daughter who is studying in the US has not been provided,”
In response, Senior Advocate Rajiv Nayar, representing Priya Kapur, disputed this claim, asserting that she has taken care of all expenses related to the children. He further alleged that the issues raised in court were aimed at gaining media attention.
He stated,
“The purpose is that the same should come in the newspaper,”
Justice Singh expressed that such matters should not be settled in court and instructed Senior Advocate Shyel Trehan, also representing Priya Kapur, to ensure they are resolved.
The Court insisted,
“I don’t want to spend more than 30 seconds on this. This question should not come to my court again. I don’t want this hearing to be melodramatic. I put this onus on you [Shyel Trehan]. This point should not come again,”
The High Court is currently examining an interim injunction application filed by Karisma Kapoor’s children, aimed at preventing Priya Kapur from transferring Sunjay Kapur’s assets. In the main suit, the siblings accuse their stepmother of forging Sunjay Kapur’s will to gain complete control of the estate.

During proceedings, Nayar continued to oppose the injunction application, asserting that the will is valid and had been shared with the family via a WhatsApp group.
He maintained,
“Execution and attestation of the Will is proved by the two witnesses, and until trial they have to be treated as valid,”
The Court plans to resume hearings on November 19 and emphasizes the need to conclude arguments on the interim injunction application swiftly.
Mahesh Jethmalani was supported by advocates Saurav Agrawal, Ravi Sharma, and Akhil Sachar for the plaintiffs.
Priya Sachdev Kapur and her minor son were represented by Senior Advocates Rajiv Nayar and Shyel Trehan.
Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur were married for 13 years from 2003 until their divorce in 2016, and they have a son and a daughter together. Sunjay later married Priya.
At the heart of the dispute is a will dated March 21, 2025, which allegedly bequeaths Sunjay Kapur’s entire personal estate to Priya Sachdeva Kapur.
In a high-profile family dispute, the children of Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor and late businessman Sunjay Kapur have approached the Delhi High Court seeking their share in their father’s estimated Rs 30,000 crore estate.
The children alleged that Priya Kapur, Sunjay Kapur’s third wife, had forged his will to claim complete control over the assets, leaving them unfairly excluded. The disputed will, dated 21 March 2025, reportedly bequeaths the entire estate solely to Priya Kapur.
