Delhi High Court has asked AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan to respond to Delhi Police’s plea challenging his anticipatory bail. He is accused of leading a mob and helping a murder accused escape in Jamia Nagar.

New Delhi, May 6: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday asked Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan to give his response to a petition filed by the Delhi Police.

This petition challenges the anticipatory bail that was earlier granted to him in a case where he is accused of being involved in an attack on police officials in the Jamia Nagar area of the national capital.

Justice Ravinder Dudeja of the Delhi High Court issued a formal notice to Amanatullah Khan on the plea submitted by the Delhi Police.

This comes after the trial court had granted him anticipatory bail on February 25. The High Court will now hear the matter to decide whether that decision was correct or needs to be changed.

Amanatullah Khan, who is the elected MLA from the Okhla constituency in Delhi, was booked by the police on February 10.

According to the police, he was allegedly involved in leading a mob and helping a proclaimed offender to escape from police custody. The proclaimed offender in question is accused in a serious case of attempt to murder.

The Delhi Police have argued in their plea that the trial court wrongly gave bail to the AAP leader, and they now want the High Court to cancel it.

The matter is considered serious as it involves obstruction of justice and violence against police officers.

The High Court, while issuing the notice, has asked Amanatullah Khan to respond and explain his side of the story. The court will look into the details of the case and the earlier bail order before taking a final decision.

This case has gained attention due to the involvement of a sitting MLA and the nature of the charges, including allegedly aiding someone accused of attempt to murder and encouraging a mob against the police.

The legal process will now move forward as the High Court examines the evidence and the arguments from both sides.

Justice Ravinder Dudeja, while taking up the case, said

the notice is being issued on the Delhi Police’s appeal against the relief that was given to Khan by the lower court.

As per the official records, the police had earlier booked him under multiple sections after the alleged incident took place in Jamia Nagar.

The trial court’s decision on February 25 had come under scrutiny, and now the higher court will re-examine whether the anticipatory bail was justified in such a case involving public safety and law enforcement.

The Delhi Police are firm on their stand and want the anticipatory bail to be cancelled so that proper investigation and questioning can take place.

The High Court will now review the matter and give its judgment after hearing both sides.

“Justice Ravinder Dudeja issued notice on Delhi Police’s plea against the relief granted by the trial court on February 25.”

“The MLA from Okhla was booked on February 10 for allegedly leading a mob and aiding a proclaimed offender, who was accused in an attempt-to-murder case, to escape from custody.”

The case will next be heard on a date decided by the High Court, and all eyes will be on how the legal proceedings unfold in this high-profile matter.
