The Allahabad High Court has granted bail to SP leader Azam Khan in the Rampur Quality Bar property case. With no pending bail pleas, he is set to walk free after years of legal battles.
Samajwadi Party leader and former cabinet minister Azam Khan has received a major relief from the Allahabad High Court as the court granted him bail in a high-profile case concerning alleged encroachment of the Quality Bar property in Rampur.
Justice Sameer Jain, heading a single bench, approved Khan’s bail plea, clearing the way for his release from jail since no other bail applications are pending against him.
His lawyer, Mohammad Khalid, said,
“The formalities may take two to three days after the judgment is uploaded and the release order reaches the jail authorities.”
The Allahabad High Court had reserved its order on August 21 after hearing arguments from both sides. Azam Khan approached the High Court after his bail plea was rejected by the MP-MLA court on May 17 this year.
The case has a long history dating back to November 21, 2019, when a complaint was filed by bar owner Gagan Arora, resulting in an FIR against Azam Khan, his wife Dr Tazeen Fatima, his son Abdullah Azam Khan, and others.
Initially, Khan was not named in the FIR, but in 2024, the police added him as an accused and later filed a chargesheet in January 2025.
Khan’s lawyers argued that the property had been allotted in the names of his wife and son as per government rules and no undue political influence was involved.
They further argued that the prosecution failed to prove the charges, which ultimately paved the way for the court to grant bail.
Notably, Dr Tazeen Fatima and Abdullah Azam had already secured bail in this case in 2020. With this latest order, Azam Khan has now been granted bail in all cases registered against him.
Over the years, more than 80 cases have been registered against Azam Khan, ranging from land disputes to allegations of encroachment. Earlier, on September 10, 2025, he was also granted bail in another case concerning alleged encroachment in Dungarpur.
With this recent relief from the Allahabad High Court, the path is now clear for Azam Khan to walk free after facing years of legal challenges and multiple court proceedings.
