The Allahabad High Court has recently imposed a restriction on two lawyers, prohibiting their entry into the premises of the district court. The court took a serious note after a alleged misconduct or violation of court protocols by the two individuals.

Prayagraj: On April 30: The Allahabad High Court took a serious note of an incident of assault on a litigant allegedly carried out by two lawyers within the district court premises. Acting on the reference sent by the Prayagraj district judge, the court issued notice to the lawyers involved, namely Ram Vijay Singh and Mohammad Asif, questioning why they should not be punished for criminal contempt.

The assault, which occurred on Monday, involved a group of advocates who reportedly attacked the litigant within the senior division court. In response to this distressing incident, the Allahabad High Court has taken immediate action to address the matter and ensure the safety of individuals accessing the court system.

The court’s division bench, comprising Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra and Justice Mohammad Azhar Husain Idrisi, has issued a restraining order, prohibiting the two lawyers from entering the district court premises. This measure aims to prevent any further incidents of violence and maintain a secure environment for litigants, lawyers, and court staff.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the court has also directed the district judge to review the CCTV footage to identify any other individuals involved in the assault or displaying contemptuous behavior. It is crucial to hold all responsible parties accountable for their actions and maintain the integrity of the legal system.

Furthermore, the High Court has sought a report from the commissioner of police in Prayagraj regarding the existing security arrangements within the district court premises.

This report will enable the court to evaluate the effectiveness of the current security measures and identify any gaps that need to be addressed. The court emphasizes the need for adequate police deployment to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.

In addition to these actions, the Allahabad High Court is committed to ensuring a fair and secure environment for all individuals involved in legal proceedings. By taking a strong stand against the assault on a litigant, the court sends a clear message that any act of violence or contempt within the judicial system will not be tolerated.
