Prajwal Revanna approached the Karnataka High Court seeking copies of digital evidence in the rape cases against him. He is accused in four cases of rape and sexual assault, with his bail applications for two cases and pre-arrest bail plea for the others being rejected by the High Court last year. The request for digital evidence is part of his ongoing legal battle. Revanna continues to fight the charges in the court.

Suspended Janata Dal (Secular) leader Prajwal Revanna, who faces allegations in at least four separate cases involving rape, sexual assault, and criminal intimidation, has approached the Karnataka High Court for copies of all digital evidence collected against him by the State Special Investigation Team (SIT).
During a brief hearing on Thursday, Justice M. Nagaprasanna stated that while Revanna has the right to receive evidence relevant to his cases, the court would not allow anything that could disclose the identities of victims, except for the complainant in the case before the trial court.

This remark followed a statement from Additional Special Public Prosecutor BN Jagadeesha, who argued that Revanna’s petition was a tactic to delay the trial. Jagadeesha noted that the prosecution had already provided copies of images and videos relevant to the four cases against Revanna.
However, Revanna is now requesting over 15,000 images and 2,000 videos recovered from a Samsung phone purportedly belonging to his driver. Many of these materials reportedly include sensitive information about other victims, and disclosing them could compromise their identities.
The court instructed the SIT to provide any remaining relevant evidence for Revanna’s case, adhering to the Supreme Court’s ruling in P. Gopalakrishnan vs. the State of Kerala.
Justice Nagaprasanna emphasized,
“Under Section 207, you will have to give him copies… We will not permit anyone to reveal the identity of others (victims) or endanger them in any way.”
The court will continue to hear arguments on this matter on January 16.

Revanna’s attorney informed the court that the trial court has scheduled the framing of charges for January 13. Justice Nagaprasanna indicated that while the trial court can proceed with the hearing, it must refrain from framing charges until the High Court has addressed Revanna’s current plea.
Revanna, the son of former minister HD Revanna and grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, is facing multiple charges of rape and sexual abuse, with four cases registered against him.
On August 24 this year, the SIT filed a 2,144-page chargesheet, marking the first in these cases, before the special court that handles matters involving MPs and MLAs.
