Bengaluru: Today(September 19): The Karnataka High Court has postponed the hearing of former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa’s petition to dismiss a case against him involving the alleged harassment of a minor to September 27.
Yediyurappa approached the Karnataka High Court in March, seeking to quash the case filed against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Earlier, Justice M Naga Prasanna presided over the POCSO case filed against Yediyurappa, along with his petitions for anticipatory bail.
A bench led by Naga Prasanna had extended the exemption preventing BS Yediyurappa’s arrest while requiring his presence at the hearings.
Due to the seriousness of the case, the government transferred it to the CID, which later issued a notice to Yediyurappa, summoning him to the proceedings. In compliance, he appeared in court and gave his statement. Yediyurappa filed two separate petitions in the High Court, seeking both the dismissal of the case and anticipatory bail.
In June, after a non-bailable warrant was issued against the former Karnataka Chief Minister, the BJP accused Congress of orchestrating a conspiracy in response to their defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, claiming it was an attempt to distract from corruption allegations against Congress ministers.
Meanwhile, the victim’s lawyer demanded Yediyurappa’s arrest and requested time to present his case.

In June this year, following the issuance of a non-bailable arrest warrant against former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, the BJP accused Congress leaders of “orchestrating a conspiracy” in retaliation for their “humiliating defeat” in the Lok Sabha elections.
The BJP also alleged that Congress was attempting to divert attention from corruption cases involving its ministers.
