The incident occurred shortly after the court dismissed his application to quash a case filed under Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which deals with matrimonial cruelty and harassment.

The case against the lawyer was initiated by his wife, who accused him of cruelty and harassment, a serious charge that carries significant legal repercussions. In an effort to clear his name and seek relief from these allegations, the lawyer filed a quashing application in the Patna High Court. Unfortunately, his plea did not find favor with the court. Not only was his application rejected, but the court also imposed a penalty on him, further exacerbating his distress.

The rejection of his quashing application was a turning point for the lawyer. Overwhelmed by the prospect of facing the charges and the additional penalty, he attempted to take his own life by jumping from the high court building. This act of desperation underscores the immense pressure and emotional turmoil individuals can face when entangled in legal battles, particularly those involving family and personal relationships.

Thankfully, the quick intervention of court officials prevented a tragic outcome. Their timely response ensured the lawyer’s safety, averting what could have been a fatal incident.
