Patna High Court Orders CCTV Footage Preservation in 70th BPSC Exam Case – Next Hearing on Feb 28

BIHAR: The Patna High Court on Friday (Feb 14) listened to the case about the 70th BPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination and gave an important order to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). The court directed that the CCTV footage from all examination centres must be kept safe.

A division bench with Acting Chief Justice Ashutosh Kumar and Justice Parth Sarthi looked into the petition. This petition was filed by Anand Legal Aid Forum Trust.

The court has given more time to the lawyer of the applicant so they can reply to the counter affidavit submitted by the Bihar state government and BPSC.

Earlier, the High Court had already asked BPSC and the Bihar government to give their answers to the questions raised in the petition.

The court has again stressed that CCTV footage must be preserved.

Before coming to the Patna High Court, Anand Legal Aid Forum Trust had first gone to the Supreme Court. But the Supreme Court did not take the case and told them to file it in the Patna High Court.

After this, the petition was filed in the Patna High Court, and now the case is being heard there.

Earlier, 14 petitions were submitted in the Patna High Court, all asking for the cancellation and re-exam of the 70th BPSC PT exam. The court combined all these petitions into one case.

On January 16, a single bench of Justice Arvind Singh Chandel listened to a different petition related to the BPSC exam process. This petition was filed by Pappu Kumar and others.

The bench asked BPSC and the Bihar government to file affidavits in response. These replies were submitted on January 31.

The bench did not stop the declaration of exam results but made it clear that the final decision of the case will decide whether the BPSC PT results are valid or not.

The order to keep CCTV footage safe is an important step to maintain fairness and transparency in the BPSC exam process, especially because there have been allegations of irregularities.

The next hearing of this case will take place on February 28. This hearing will be very important as it will help decide the future of the exam results.
