Calcutta High Court directs cricketer Mohammed Shami to pay Rs 4 lakh/month as maintenance to Hasin Jahan and daughter Aaira, effective from 2016. The court also asked the lower court to resolve the case within six months.
Kolkata: On July 01, Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami has received a major setback in an ongoing legal battle with his estranged wife Hasin Jahan. In a recent judgment, the Calcutta High Court has directed Shami to pay Rs 4 lakh per month as maintenance under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act.
As per the court’s order, his wife Hasin Jahan is to receive Rs 1.5 lakh per month, and their daughter Aaira will receive Rs 2.5 lakh per month. This amount is not just for the future—it will be counted from a back date of seven years, starting from 2016.

Along with this financial direction, the High Court also instructed the lower court to complete and dispose of the pending case within six months.
The case has been under public attention for many years due to the couple’s strained relationship and several serious allegations from both sides.
Last year, Mohammed Shami had an emotional reunion with his daughter Aaira after a long gap. He shared a post on Instagram capturing a special moment between the father-daughter duo while shopping together.
In his caption, Shami emotionally wrote,
“Time stood still when I saw her again after long time . Love you more than words can say, Bebo.”
This touching moment received more than 1.60 lakh likes within an hour of posting.

However, Hasin Jahan responded to this post with some serious counter-allegations, raising questions over Shami’s intentions behind the meet-up. Speaking to Anandabazar.com, she stated,
“It’s just for the sake of showing off. My daughter’s passport has expired. Shami’s signature is required for the new passport. That is why she went to meet her father but Shami did not sign. He went to a shopping mall with her daughter. The company for which Shami advertises, he took her there. My daughter bought shoes and clothes from that shop. Shami does not have to pay if he buys anything from there. That’s why she was taken there. My daughter wanted a guitar and camera, he didn’t buy her those stuff.”
She further added,
“Shami never enquires about my daughter. Shami is only busy with himself. He met her just a month back, but did not post anything back then. I think there was nothing to post now, so he uploaded this video.”
The legal and personal conflicts between Shami and Hasin Jahan have been going on since 2018. Over the years, Hasin Jahan has made several allegations against the cricketer, some even as serious as match-fixing.
These claims led to an official investigation by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Anti-Corruption Unit, although Shami was eventually cleared of those charges.
