The petition, filed by Secunderabad resident Sararapu Srisailam, claimed that the movie could glorify illegal activities, similar to its predecessor Pushpa: The Rise, which depicted red sanders smuggling. The petitioner argued that such portrayals might negatively influence viewers and urged the court to halt the film’s release.

Telangana: The Telangana High Court on Tuesday (3rd Dec) dismissed a petition seeking to block the release of the much-anticipated Telugu film Pushpa 2: The Rule, paving the way for its scheduled premiere on December 5.
However, Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya rejected the plea, calling the allegations speculative and unsupported by evidence beyond the film’s teaser. She stressed that stopping the release at this stage would disrupt the film industry and cause significant financial losses for the producers.

The court also criticized the petitioner for misusing judicial resources and imposed a penalty, directing the funds toward organizations supporting trafficked women and children.
“The petition lacks merit and wastes valuable judicial time,”
Justice Bhattacharya remarked.
Deputy Solicitor General Gadi Praveen Kumar, representing the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), defended the film’s release. He confirmed that the CBFC had thoroughly reviewed and cleared Pushpa 2, incorporating five suggested changes. Kumar assured the court that the film complies fully with the Cinematography Act, leaving no valid grounds for the petition.
