Taking note of this, the court directed the High Court’s registry to take the necessary steps to ensure that the petition is placed before the correct bench.

Mumbai, April 2: The Bombay High Court has directed its registry department to place the petition filed by Satish Salian, father of late sushant singh Rajput’s manager Disha Salian, before an appropriate bench. Salian is seeking a CBI investigation into his daughter’s death and the registration of an FIR against MLA Aaditya Thackeray.

The plea was heard by a division bench consisting of Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Neela Gokhale. However, Salian’s lawyers pointed out that the case involves a crime against a woman and, as per procedure, should be assigned to the division bench headed by Justice Sarang Kotwal.

Taking note of this, the court directed the High Court’s registry to take the necessary steps to ensure that the petition is placed before the correct bench.

Satish Salian had filed this petition last month, urging the High Court to order a fresh investigation into the suspicious circumstances surrounding Disha Salian’s death in June 2020. He also requested that an FIR be registered against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray and that the case be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The petition alleges that Disha Salian was “brutally raped and murdered,” and that there was a politically motivated cover-up to shield influential individuals. Initially, the petitioner believed that the Mumbai police had conducted a fair investigation, but he now claims to have learned that it was “a cover-up.”

“The Mumbai police hastily closed the death as a case of suicide or accidental death without taking into account forensic evidence, circumstantial proof and eyewitness testimonies,” the plea stated.

Background

Disha Salian died on June 8, 2020, after allegedly falling from the 14th floor of a residential building in Malad, Mumbai. Following her death, the Mumbai police registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR).

Just a few days later, on June 14, 2020, Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, whom Disha Salian had previously worked with as a manager, was found dead in his Bandra apartment. While the Mumbai police initially ruled it as a suicide, the case was later handed over to the CBI for further investigation.

Last month, the CBI submitted its closure report in the case, concluding its probe.

If the Bombay High Court grants Satish Salian’s plea, the case could take a significant turn, potentially reopening investigations into both Disha Salian and Sushant Singh Rajput’s deaths. The court’s decision on whether to allow a CBI probe and register an FIR against Aaditya Thackeray will be crucial in determining the next course of action in the case.
