Chief Justice Suresh Kumar Kait bid an emotional farewell in Jabalpur, praising the love and respect he received. He surprised everyone by singing on stage, leaving the audience touched and applauding.
Jabalpur: Madhya Pradesh – Chief Justice Suresh Kumar Kait of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, known for his bold judgments and fearless remarks even against the government, was given an emotional and grand farewell on Friday.
The farewell ceremony took place at the Silver Jubilee Adarsh Auditorium in Jabalpur, where his heartfelt speech and unique manner deeply moved everyone present, including fellow judges, senior advocates, and his family.

While addressing the gathering, Chief Justice Kait expressed his deep affection and respect for the people of Jabalpur and the legal community.
In his emotional words, he said,
“Nowhere have I received as much respect as I have received in this state, this city and this time in the association since the day I took charge. It’s unforgettable.”
He further added,
“The honor that I received in Jabalpur is impossible to forget.”
Recalling the date he assumed office, the Chief Justice mentioned,
“When I first reached Jabalpur on 24 September 2024, the respect I received from the station to the court will be remembered for a lifetime.”
Many prominent personalities were present at the farewell ceremony including his wife Mrs. Kait, Administrative Judge Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, State Bar Vice Chairman R.K. Singh Saini, Deputy Solicitor General Pushpendra Yadav, Additional Advocate General Harpreet Singh Ruparah, High Court Advocates Bar Association Secretary Advocate Nikhil Tiwari, District Bar President Manish Mishra, High Court Bar President Dhanya Kumar Jain, and Operations Secretary Advocate Paritosh Trivedi.
During his speech, CJ Kait shared his views about his tenure and his bond with the legal community, saying,
“I am as strong as I am, I do not care about my personal respect but I do not tolerate anything wrong with the institution.”
Speaking about his efforts for the Bar, he said,
“Whatever I could do for the Bar Association in a short span of time, I did.”
He mentioned a major development project, adding,
“An eight-storey building for parking and seating for advocates was proposed by the government.”
In a heart-touching moment, Justice Kait, who is usually known for his strict and firm image, surprised the audience by singing from the stage. He sang the emotional lines “Tore Naina Bade Dagabaaz Re” and then the evergreen melody “Firki Wali Tu Kal Phir Aana” by Mohammad Rafi.
His soulful singing touched the hearts of everyone in the auditorium. As he sang, the hall filled with loud applause and appreciation.
Judges, advocates, and other attendees were taken aback by this emotional and unexpected gesture. Many advocates even joined him by singing along.

Moved by his expression, the entire gathering stood up to give him a standing ovation in a memorable tribute.
High Court Bar President Dhanya Kumar Jain expressed gratitude and admiration for the Chief Justice on behalf of the legal fraternity.
He said,
“Chief Justice Suresh Kumar Kait made the impossible possible.”
He further added,
“Because of him, the dream of a new building of the Bar Association will be realized in time.”
Highlighting his contribution, Jain stated,
“He approved a budget of Rs 117 crore in the presence of the Chief Minister and judges of the Supreme Court.”
The auditorium echoed with applause for a long time following this announcement.
Who is Chief Justice Suresh Kumar Kait?
Justice Suresh Kumar Kait was born on May 24, 1963, in a village in Kaithal district, Haryana. He completed his schooling at Kurukshetra University and later obtained his LLB degree from Delhi University.
He began practicing law in 1989 and served as a government counsel for the Central Government, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), and Indian Railways. In 2008, he was elevated as a judge of the Delhi High Court.
He also served as a judge in the High Courts of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Hyderabad. On 24 September 2024, he was appointed as the 28th Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
As a gesture of respect and love, the High Court Bar presented CJ Kait with a beautiful memento of the High Court building. His wife, Mrs. Kait, was honored with a handloom saree.
The event was organized with support from senior members of the Bar including Senior Vice President Amit Jain, Vice President Prashant Awasthi, Joint Secretary Yogesh Soni, Treasurer Rajendra Pratap Singh, Library Secretary Rajnish Upadhyay, and Executive Member Sapna Tiwari.
The vote of thanks was given by Operations Secretary Paritosh Trivedi and Advocate Nirmala Nayak.
Chief Justice Kait’s farewell was a perfect blend of emotions, respect, achievements, and memories that will remain etched in the hearts of the legal fraternity of Madhya Pradesh.
His journey as a tough yet emotional leader has left a lasting legacy in the corridors of justice in Jabalpur.
