Christian Michel, accused in the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper scam, has asked the Delhi High Court to ease his bail conditions. The court will soon hear his request for relaxation in restrictions.

Christian James Michel, a British national who is one of the main accused in the high-profile AgustaWestland VVIP chopper scam, has moved the Delhi High Court asking for a relaxation in the strict conditions that were put on him when he was granted bail.

The Delhi High Court has now agreed to hear his plea, where he has requested some changes in the bail order.

The case is related to allegations of corruption and money laundering in the purchase of 12 luxury helicopters for VVIP use from the Italian firm AgustaWestland.

Michel was allegedly involved as a middleman in the deal, which is said to have involved illegal payments and kickbacks to Indian officials and politicians.

He was extradited from the United Arab Emirates to India in 2018 and has been under investigation by both the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

In his latest petition, Christian Michel has said that some of the conditions imposed while granting him bail are too strict and are causing him trouble.

He has asked the court to modify them so that he can live more freely while still following the law.

His bail was earlier granted by a special CBI court with several conditions to ensure that he does not misuse the freedom given to him.

However, Michel has now approached the Delhi High Court with a request to ease these conditions.

The High Court has listed his plea for hearing, and the matter is expected to be argued in the coming days. The court will now decide whether his bail conditions should be changed or kept the same.

Earlier, when he was given bail, the court had put several restrictions such as not leaving Delhi without permission, regularly reporting to the investigating officer, and not influencing any witnesses.

Christian Michel has now said that some of these conditions are affecting his personal freedom and making his life difficult.

His lawyer is expected to argue that since he has followed all court directions till now and has not broken any rule, he should be given some relaxation in the conditions.

The court will examine these arguments and then pass an appropriate order.

This case continues to remain one of the most talked-about defense scams in India, and any developments in Michel’s bail matter are being closely watched.

The plea is now listed before the Delhi High Court, and further hearings will reveal whether any changes will be allowed.
