Bombay High Court to Hear Disha Salian's Father's Petition Against Sameer Wankhede on April 2, 2025

MUMBAI: The Bombay High Court decided to hear the writ petition that has been filed by Mr. Satish Salian, who is the father of late Disha SalianSushant Singh Rajput’s Former Manager. This case has been given a hearing date, which is 2nd April 2025.

This is an important legal step taken by the father, and the matter is going to be looked into by the court on that day.

According to the information available, a copy of the writ petition has already been given to Mr. Sameer Wankhede. This was done by the lawyer who is working on behalf of Mr. Satish Salian. It means that Mr. Wankhede has been officially informed about this legal action and he has received all the documents related to it.

In this matter, Advocate Faizan Merchant, who is the legal representative and lawyer for Mr. Sameer Wankhede, has made an official statement. He has informed the public and the court about the next legal step that his client is going to take.

In his words,

“His client is going to file a detailed affidavit in the High Court, which will answer all the points concerning his client.”

This means that Mr. Sameer Wankhede will be giving a complete reply in writing to the Bombay High Court. This written reply, called an affidavit, will include answers and explanations for all the questions or matters that have been raised against him in the petition filed by Mr. Satish Salian.

Such legal steps are very important in Indian courts, especially when it is a sensitive case like this, connected to a tragic incident involving Disha Salian. Families of people who have passed away often seek justice and clarity through the court process, and this is exactly what Mr. Satish Salian is trying to do by filing the writ petition.

The Bombay High Court will carefully go through all the documents, including the petition by Mr. Salian and the reply that will be filed by Mr. Wankhede. After listening to both sides, the court will decide what is fair and correct according to the law.

BACKGROUND

Satish Salian, the father of Disha Salian, is seeking to have the Bombay High Court reopen the investigation into her 2020 death. He is requesting that an FIR be filed against Aaditya Thackeray, a leader of Shiv Sena (UBT), and is calling for the CBI to take over the case.

A spokesperson for Shiv Sena (UBT) raised concerns about a potential conspiracy behind this sudden request after four years.

During the ongoing Budget session of the Maharashtra legislature, Satish Salian’s lawyer, Nilesh Ojha, announced plans to file a petition in the Bombay High Court for a fresh investigation into Disha Salian’s death.

The petition alleges that she was raped and murdered, suggesting a political cover-up to protect powerful individuals. It is expected that the petition will be officially numbered on Thursday.

The petition reflects a shift in Satish Salian’s perspective, moving from faith in the Mumbai police’s investigation to suspecting a cover-up.

It contends that,

“The Mumbai police hastily closed the death as a case of suicide or accidental death without taking into account forensic evidence, circumstantial proof and eyewitness testimonies.”

Disha Salian died on June 8, 2020, after falling from a 14th-floor building in Malad, leading to an Accidental Death Report. Just days later, on June 14, 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Bandra apartment, a case that was later taken over by the CBI.

Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Kishori Pednekar has suggested that there may be a conspiracy behind Satish Salian’s request for a renewed investigation into his daughter’s death.

Pednekar remarked,

“There’s clearly a conspiracy at play here. Why has this issue come to light after more than four years? The CID has already conducted an inquiry, and an SIT has been formed to investigate the matter,”

In contrast, BJP minister Nitesh Rane used this development to target Aaditya Thackeray, a former Maharashtra minister.

Rane told reporters,

“Aaditya Thackeray must tell the truth. He should resign as an MLA and cooperate with the investigation,”

Nitesh Rane, son of Narayan Rane, has alleged that Disha Salian was murdered, claiming that CCTV footage has disappeared and visitor logs have been destroyed.

The Ranes and Thackerays have a long-standing rivalry.

Rane insisted,

“From the very beginning, I have maintained that Disha Salian was murdered.”

Maharashtra Minister of State in the Home Department, Yogesh Kadam, stated that if Disha Salian’s father has any evidence related to her death, he should present it to the home department.

Kadam added,

“We will adhere to any directives issued by the High Court. There will be no political interference in the investigation.”
