PRAYAGRAJ: The Allahabad High Court has granted relief to Ajay Yadav, the National Vice-President of the Samajwadi Chatra Sabha, by stopping his arrest in a case related to alleged extortion.
On Wednesday (September 17) in Prayagraj, a division bench of Justices Rajiv Gupta and Rajiv Lochan Shukla issued the stay order on the arrest of the petitioner, Ajay Yadav, who is also known as Ajay Samrat. The court further asked the state counsel to place an affidavit before the bench regarding the case.

The case began when an FIR was registered at Colonelganj Police Station in Prayagraj against Yadav. The complaint accused the student leader, who is part of the Samajwadi Party’s student wing, of extortion.
Ajay Yadav has defended himself by saying that the FIR was lodged only because of the statements he made earlier regarding corruption during the Kumbh Mela.
According to Yadav, his accusations about “financial misconduct during the Kumbh Mela” directly led to the registration of the case against him.
During the hearing, the bench clearly noted that it was staying the arrest of
“petitioner Ajay Yadav alias Ajay Samrat” and that the state counsel must “file an affidavit in the matter.”
With this interim relief, Ajay Yadav will not face arrest until further hearings, while the High Court continues to look into the details of the case.
