The Supreme Court emphasized that individuals involved in drug trafficking and narcotics-related activities must be dealt with firmly, observing that drug offenders are repeatedly destroying the lives of the country’s youth across generations and posing a serious threat to society and public welfare.
Union Government told the Supreme Court that unregulated real-money gaming has become a high-risk zone linked to terror financing, money laundering and rising suicides, estimating nearly ₹20,000 crore in annual losses. It urged strong regulation to protect public welfare.
The Bombay High Court took suo motu action over reports of drug, cigarette, and e-cigarette sales near schools and colleges. Emphasising student safety, it said, “Police must act in the true spirit of their duty” to prevent addiction.
